Great Team Building

Barefoot Bowls is a great social activity and an excellent way to test the game. Our friendly team at Beresfield Bowling Club will also teach you how to bowl as part of your overall bowling experience. All bowls equipment is supplied.

We have excellent BBQ facilities or your group can have finger food arranged by Hot Plate or your group can have meals in our Hot Plate restaurant.

If you are a business owner and would like to participate and have some healthy competition against some other business houses in the local area,  contact David Govan.

Our BBQ Area

Our BBQ area is able to seat approximately 100 people – so why not get a group together and come and have a great time on our green. We would love to see you “on the green” – any number of players from 5 to 100. You don’t need to know how to play bowls – we will help you have a fun and enjoyable time at Bero Bowlo.

Contact our Bowls Co-ordinator/Coach David Govan who will be more than happy to explain the procedure and help in organising a great event with you.

There is no charge for the use of our greens.

You never know – you may enjoy the morning, afternoon or evening so much that you wish to get involved and take up the great game of bowls at Bero Bowlo.

Some Tips for Beginner Bowlers

^

In social/barefoot bowls, the teams are usually a game of triples (3 players per team) or 4’s (4 players per team). The lead (1st player) plays the jack. The Skip (last player) aligns the jack on the centre line and a player from each team plays alternatively. Each player tries to deliver their bowl as close to the jack as possible.

^

The larger black ball is called a bowl. The small white ball is the jack. They are supplied by Beresfield Bowling Club – at no charge.

^
Bowls are shaped so that they don’t roll in a straight line, but in a curved motion.
^
Each bowl has a small and large icon on each side. Always keep the small icon on the inside of your delivery.
^
You will play on a Synthetic green (artificial short grass) which is divided into rinks. There is a ditch on the outside of the green to catch badly delivered bowls.
^
You bowl from alternate ends, standing on a mat, which is supplied by the Club.
^
The aim of the game is to have your bowl as close to the jack as possible.
^
Flat soled shoes need to be worn on our synthetic greens.
